'Gypsy Jones' -Capra creates a musical fusion of rock'n'roll and soul.

This summer, put down the discs you've been listening to and pick up something new. Here are two acts you must get into.

More than just a quintet of pretty faces, Capra has an unforgettable sound that seamlessly blends funk with vintage rock 'n' roll; think Jet with more creativity and soul. Their LP "Gypsy Jones" beautifully represents the diverse talents and capabilities they possess.

Capra has a distinctive sound, their vintage instrumentals beautifully pair with the raw vocals of Kelly Blatz. "Gypsy Jones" has an innovative sound, all the tracks maintain Capra's distinct style, but unlike many other musicians, Capra is proficient in more than three chords and two fundamental beats. A key track is "Bloom," which is an emotional experience, and could be considered an anthem or climactic song of sorts. -LC

'Boxer' The National has universal appeal with a driving beat and piano panache.

Brooding mood music by almost anyone's definition, "Boxer" is at times explosive, intrusive, enigmatic, driving, pounding and melancholy.

"Boxer" made a splash earlier this year, but only on the independent record charts. Critical acclaim is possibly the only thing that keeps The National in a record deal; except, of course, that they sound like liquid heaven.

"Apartment Story" is gorgeous lo-fi stomping swamp rock that finds the band in a special place - a musical high. With loaded words, Berninger croaks "Worry not, all things are well / We'll be alright, we have our looks and perfume on." Album highlights also include "Green Gloves," "Guest Room," "Ada" and "Squalor Victoria."

School's out for the summer, so you don't have to drop out, but turn on "Boxer" and tune in - it's a trip worth taking. -TO
